Objectives:

Learn how to write a constructive and effective review report of a research paper.

Course description:

This session will provide an overview of the key elements involved in writing a developmental review report, with a focus on offering constructive and actionable feedback. Drawing on their extensive experience as authors, editors, and reviewers, the session leaders will share best practices for conducting meaningful reviews.

Participants will engage in a discussion about their own experiences—whether receiving reviews or reviewing the work of others—to identify common challenges and strategies for improvement. The session will also feature an interactive component where participants will review sample manuscripts in small groups.

We encourage participants to bring a 3-to-5-page summary of one of their own research projects. These will be reviewed collaboratively, with a focus on what works well and where improvements can be made. If time permits, we will also cover strategies for addressing reviewer comments to enhance the likelihood of manuscript acceptance.
